Night markets and following days
Muhammad Qasim’s April 2024 Rawalpindi report follows Eid through changing hours and places. On Chand Raat, shops in the city and cantonment stayed open until Fajr; the named locations include Raja Bazaar and Saddar, alongside newer markets in PWD, Scheme 3 extension, Misrial Road and Dhoke Chaudrian. After morning prayers on the first day, people visited relatives’ graves to offer fateha. Public parks became destinations during the following days, while restaurants remained busy at night. Shopping, remembrance and recreation therefore occupy different moments within this reported occasion. The account describes movements across a particular city, rather than prescribing what every family should do or supplying a fixed sequence for all Punjabi Eid celebrations.[1]
Prayer and public address
Mahesh Sharma’s April 2024 Malerkotla report names Wadi Eidgah, Chhoti Eidgah and Qila Rehmatgarh among places of Eid al-Fitr prayer. Preachers prayed for harmony and prosperity. At Wadi Eidgah, Mufti Itarka Ul Hasan Kandhalvi urged respect for other communities and voting without coercion during the election season. Public prayer thus also provided a setting for an address about civic conduct. These are the named speaker’s words and the reported gathering, not a statement of every resident’s political preference or a religious ruling about gifts and charitable obligations.[2]
Sharma’s June report separately records Eid al-Adha in Malerkotla, with preachers again praying for harmony. It supplies another dated occasion, without describing a complete ritual sequence.[4]
A dated plan for journeys
A May 2021 APP announcement records extra Eid trains connecting Karachi with Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan through Punjab stops. It makes travel part of the holiday’s practical organisation across distant cities. The announcement establishes planned services for that year, rather than passengers’ reasons for travelling, verified completed journeys or a timetable that remains available today.[3]
