Evidence record · personal name
Meaning and use are separate questions.
Lexical evidence: A name reference connects Manjeet with mind and victory; its submitted Manjit entry links the spellings.
Documented use: Documented professional credits.
A name reference
A user-submitted Behind the Name entry links Manjit with Manjeet and records ਮਨਜੀਤ. Its Manjeet entry connects the name with mind and victory.[4][5]
The botanical dictionary lookalike
A similar-spelling result requires care. On printed page 1072, Platts’s dictionary records maṅjīṭ and maṅjīṭh through a reference to majīṭh. The same page includes the madder term maṅjishṭha. These botanical entries establish a particular vocabulary context. They do not identify Manjit as a personal name or explain why a person received it. Treating this result as a name meaning would turn a lexical resemblance into an unsupported naming history. The inspected entry also provides no basis for constructing the explanation “mind-conquering” from familiar components.[1]
Manjit Kaur’s dated physics CV
A Physics CV at Panjab University, Chandigarh, credits Dr. Manjit Kaur as Professor of Physics. Its heading explicitly gives the last update as 25 July 2016. The first page lists a doctorate in High Energy Physics and an MCA in Computer Science. It also records university Senate and Syndicate service and a period as departmental chair in 2013–2014. These dated and subject-specific fields anchor the full professional name in an institutional document. They do not establish that the listed appointments continue today. The Senate and Syndicate entries carry 2004–2008 and 2007–2008 dates respectively. The selected CV page describes research interests and experimental participation; it is not a substitute for inspecting the underlying physics papers.[2]
Manjit Bawa in an artist record
Sotheby’s publishes the artist credit Manjit Bawa, with the dates 1941–2008. Its biographical opening states that he was born in Dhuri, Punjab, in 1941. Here the full name accompanies an artist record within an auction-house catalogue context. The institutional credit and the named birthplace document a specific written use of Manjit. The page’s later quoted art criticism is a different kind of material and is not adopted here. Neither the public artist credit nor its birth metadata supplies Bawa’s personal naming intention.[3]
