Evidence record · personal name

Meaning and use are separate questions.

Lexical evidence: Platts records shāh-bāz, royal falcon, with separate adjectival senses.

Documented use: Shahbaz Ahmed; Shahbaz Junior; Shahbaz Ahmad/Ahmed Senior in one interview.

A falcon word and its adjective

The shāh-bāz entry under shāh in Platts records a royal falcon. It also supplies adjectival senses concerning royalty, nobility and generosity. The printed compound includes a long-vowel mark that the credit Shahbaz omits. The noun and adjective are different uses within the dictionary’s description; they are not observations about a modern bearer’s character. A comparison with Shahbaz can therefore report the bird vocabulary and the historical descriptive senses without declaring that someone is generous, noble or royal because of their name. The source does not document the intention behind a particular family’s choice.[1]

Two credits in one hockey report

The International Hockey Federation’s report of 12 September 2015 names Shahbaz Ahmed as the newly appointed Pakistan Hockey Federation secretary general. It separately lists Shahbaz Junior on a selection committee. Retaining those surrounding credits prevents the repeated component from collapsing two documentary references into one. The same article connects Ahmed’s sporting record with the 1990 World Cup in Lahore. That explicit location supplies a Punjab connection; it does not turn the dated appointment into a claim about who holds the office today.[2]

Ahmad and Ahmed in a reported interview

An Associated Press of Pakistan interview published on 16 July 2026 uses Shahbaz Ahmad Senior in its lead and Shahbaz Ahmed Senior in the following invitation paragraph. Both spellings occur within this specific account. Its speaker thanks the federation for inviting him to the 2026 World Cup. The report describes an August international tournament in Belgium and the Netherlands as forthcoming. That is evidence of a reported invitation and the publication’s naming practice, without independent inspection of the letter or proof of attendance. The observed spelling variation should be attributed to this report, rather than expanded into a rule equating every Ahmad or Ahmed credit.[3]
