Identify the digital collection

UC Davis identifies its Pioneering Punjabis Digital Archive as collection D-643, with inclusive dates 1900–2019. Its finding aid describes photographs, films, letters, newspapers, songs and interviews relating to people who came to California from Punjab. It credits Nicole Ranganath’s curatorial work and contributions from families, individuals and the Punjabi American Heritage Society. These details identify a particular assembled collection. They do not turn every photograph into an image of the same migration experience or establish the date of an individual item.[1]

The D-621 guide describes the collection as open for research while distinguishing institutional publication permission from the copyright holder’s permission. Access to a file therefore should not be treated as an unrestricted licence to reproduce it. The finding aid supplies a route for enquiries; it does not grant this website permission to redistribute the collection.[2]

For an in-person enquiry, follow UC Davis’s request instructions and confirm that material is available before visiting. The library warns that many collections are stored offsite. A catalogue listing alone is not confirmation of delivery.[3]
