Formats and selection

The Pakistan Kabaddi Federation’s 2023–24 calendar distinguishes circle and Asian styles within one programme. It scheduled a circle-style cup in Gujrat and a championship and league in Lahore. Senior and women’s Asian-style championships were planned for Rawalpindi/Islamabad. The style labels belong to particular events: “kabaddi” alone does not identify which format an institution intended. The calendar also places training and competition alongside each other, with a national camp listed separately from the cups and championships. These are dated plans rather than a retrospective list of completed tournaments.[1]

University of the Punjab’s sports-admission notice placed men’s Kabaddi (Asian & Circle) on 17 August 2023 at its New Campus Ground in Lahore. Applicants were instructed to bring documents supporting their sporting achievement. A trial was therefore one route into a university sporting setting, with evidence of earlier participation forming part of the selection process. The combined row recognises two formats without giving a separate rulebook for either. Its notes required photocopies of educational and sports documents, with selected candidates submitting originals within three days after the list appeared.[2]

A women’s coaching camp

A revised GNDU letter dated 30 December 2024 invited selected women from affiliated colleges to an Amritsar coaching camp beginning on 4 January. Its list includes colleges in Jalandhar, Amritsar, Sultanpur Lodhi and Banga. Final selection was scheduled for 14 January before a championship at Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo. The printed N/S label remains unexpanded here. This is a college-to-university recruitment record, not proof that every selected player attended.[3]

A provincial team result

The Pakistan Sports Board’s Punjab results for the 2024 Quaid-i-Azam Inter Provincial Games record silver in men’s Asian-style kabaddi. The competitor column says “Team”, unlike neighbouring individual entries. It documents a collective result without supplying an individual kabaddi roster.[4]
