Evidence record · given name

Meaning and use are separate questions.

Lexical evidence: A dictionary-based meaning for the complete personal name has not been established here.

Documented use: An identified academic appears as Adnan Qadir Khan, Adnan Q. Khan and Adnan Khan across a CV, institutional profile and research credit.

A traditional name reference

Rekhta’s adnaan entry labels the name Arabic and describes the traditional allusion to an ancestor of the Prophet Muhammad. It does not supply the literal English meanings sometimes attached to the name in unsourced lists. This is a proper-name reference, whose historical association is different from translating an ordinary noun. It also supplies no evidence about a modern bearer’s personal belief or reason for receiving the name.[1]

Full and initialled academic forms

An LSE-hosted professional CV is headed Adnan Qadir Khan. It records an engineering degree at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and study in International Affairs and Philosophy at Punjab University. Its language section reports fluent Punjabi alongside English and Urdu. These regional and linguistic connections are stated in the document; they are not inferred from Adnan or Khan. It also lists a 2002 Master of Public Administration at Harvard and a 2009 economics doctorate from Queen’s University in Canada, alongside earlier civil-service training in Lahore.[2]

Princeton’s public-policy centre uses Adnan Qadir Khan as its profile heading, Adnan Khan as an image label and Adnan Q. Khan in the biography. It identifies LSE teaching and former service as the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s chief economist from 2021 to 2025. The page itself therefore links the longer, initialled and shorter forms for one academic.[3]

A shorter research credit in Punjab

J-PAL’s account of a Punjab property-tax experiment lists Adnan Khan among its researchers, alongside Asim Khwaja and Ben Olken. It records a 2009–2012 timeline and a sample of 482 urban tax administrative units. This connects the shorter researcher credit with an identifiable project and bibliography, while leaving personal naming intention separate from the policy work.[4]

Its Tax Farming Redux citation corresponds with the publication listed in Khan’s CV.[2][4]
