The Getty Research Institute’s artist record identifies Paramjit Singh as an Indian painter born in Amritsar in 1935. Talwar Gallery’s biography describes his art education in Delhi, his association with the group The Unknown and his later teaching. The gallery says his work is held in several collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi and the Chandigarh Museum of Art. These records document one artist’s career and the name by which he is known; they do not establish his family’s reason for choosing it. An Olympic athletics record

Olympedia lists Paramjit Kaur on India’s women’s 4 × 400 metres relay team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Its event record also lists her teammates and the team’s result in the heat. This is a second individual with the given name, distinct from the painter above.
