Organising a Punjab association
A Tribune report published on 6 November 2000 records plans for the Punjab Kamboj Sabha. Bhupinder Singh Shadipur had been nominated convenor and asked to establish district and block bodies. The report attributes the initiative to representatives working under the Akhil Bharatiya Kamboj Maha Sabha. Its general secretary described a future sequence of local elections followed by a state body, using the Haryana organisation as a model. This was an account of organisation in progress: nomination, proposed elections and representation were different stages. It does not establish that the planned elections subsequently occurred.[1]
A community portal from 2002
KambojSociety.com’s own history dates its launch to September 2002 and identifies Deepak Kamboj as its founder. The site describes an online meeting place for people across locations, with news, historical articles and exchanges of opinions. Its stated functions included discussion forums, matrimonial profiles, a professional directory and an events calendar. These activities joined public memory with practical forms of connection. A newsletter or directory could address different interests from an electoral association, even when both used a community name. The portal’s account records its own ambitions and organisation; its claim to speak worldwide should remain a self-description.[2]
Building a commemorative place
The portal also preserves an appeal for a Chandigarh memorial plot, carrying the date 7 April 2000. It describes the Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial Bhavan Society seeking land for a memorial. Because the portal launched later, this is an archived account, rather than evidence of website publication in 2000.[3]
A separate Haryana government grant table records a construction allocation to the Chandigarh society in February 2017. The actual row specifies five lakh rupees for Shaheed Udham Singh Bhawan. It documents a public-resource decision connected to commemorative institution-building; the allocation alone does not establish expenditure or completion.[4]
