Poetry and photography

Krishan Adib, also written Adeeb, combined photography with Urdu poetry in Ludhiana. Nirupama Dutt remembers encountering him at a Chandigarh mushaira and later visiting him at Punjab Agricultural University, where he worked as the university photographer. Her account places ghazal and nazm writing alongside that professional setting. She identifies compositions sung by Mehdi Hasan, Jagjit Singh, Mohammad Rafi and Chitra Singh, showing words moving into a different public form through singers. Dutt also recalls his friendship with Sahir Ludhianvi. She records Adib treating Urdu as a culture and way of living, giving language a place within his account of literary life. A later visit found poetry written on the walls of his campus telephone booth beside photographs with fellow literary and musical figures. Writing and remembered associations thus remained visible within an ordinary working space after his photography career.[1]

Two friends in Ludhiana

A 2012 report by Amrita Chaudhry records Surjit Patar remembering Adib and Ajaib Chitrakar as a pair of creative friends. Patar pictures them leaving homes and offices on bicycles, returning after a day of expansive literary imagining. His remembered description values the company in which poems were made and discussed. It preserves a relationship between two writers, without making their languages, books or other professional work interchangeable.[2]

A book and campus remembrance

Punjabi University’s MA Urdu syllabus for the 2019–20 and 2020–21 sessions recommends Sahir Ludhianvi by Krishan Adeeb. The entry appears under Modern Poetry, Nazm, documenting his place as an author in a university reading list.[3]

A PAU report from August 2025 separately includes Adib among poets remembered in the university’s cultural lineage. The occasion was a book release organised by the Young Writers Association. This dated institutional remembrance connects his name with a continuing campus literary setting.[4]
